Interesting question! We really don't know what any of them do, so it is up in the air. I am expecting that we'll see Harry as Dumbledore's heir and then we might see what they are used for (and also a bunch of memory instruction that D left for Harry.

Every thing has significance. An author puts things in their books intentionally there are no mistakes.

And Dumbledore is not dead he is a Phoenix and Snape is good. and hot.
