A hummingbird feeder with a photo book of birds. Matinee movie passes(for both of you to enjoy) and milkshakes later. Take her to an outdoor spring concert with a little picnic. Wander the zoo eating peanuts and laughing at the people watching the animals.
Mothers day is an excuse to enjoy the lady that brought you life. Be imaginative and don't stress on the gift. Find something that you both like and work off of that.

If she likes flowers, order some (quickly!). My step-mom doesn't like flowers, so some women don't. If she likes coffee, order her a basket with coffees in it. Or make your own. You can't go wrong with a basket. If she likes italian, go buy her a nice strainer, with pasta, pasta sauce, herbs and spices, etc. Make it pretty and wrap it up! Instant basket! If she likes cookies, bake her some. Mothers never want anything over the top. They just want to spend time with you. Take her out to dinner, etc. Plenty of options!

Do something she's always wanted to do. Go to a spa together. If she isn't the type, you can just prepare a dinner for her. do the cooking and the dish washing after! Cook her favorite food.
