I'm making a t-shirt quilt for someone, they want me to piece the blocks together, sew them, and quilt the finished product. Most of the squares will be t-shirt, so i'll aslo have to put interfacing on the backs so they don't streach, and i'll need to puy extra fabric for strips between each block and the border.

what should I charge for making it?

and

Does anyone know how much I should charge for extra materials?

I get $250.00 for those. $450.00 if they want creative placement rather than just squares.

when I've made tshirt quilts, I charge $10 per square, so your quilt would cost $300. Your time is valuable and worth charging for, so unless it's for a family member or close friend, I'd go a little higher than $200. Plus, that gives you some room, if they try to negotiate.

I checked several web sites to come up with a price when someone asked me to do this, and found that the prices started at $10 per block (no sashing). With sashing, prices ranged from $12 per block to $17 per block. The price for the extra materials is built into this. Assumed block size is 14"-15" square.

I searched for "t-shirt quilt" to get this price range.

I charge people $20 a block in my town. That includes sashing, backing and binding--using fabrics from my stash. If they want to provide their own fabric, then I charge $12 a block--since that's my time.
