I know now what is missing from my computer, at the bottom it now says \System32\hal.dll is missing and i should reinstall it. But kinda clueless on how to make that happen. Reformating is the last thing I want to try.

Hi. If you have the install disk you can boot from it. When it first asks you if you want to repair, click no. The second time it asks say yes and the disk will look for broken or missing files and replace them. This will keep your old files. You should have a backup!
