i think your video driver got a problem, this often occurs with nvidia graphics cards. try to uninstall your graphics driver/ software, and reinstall the original driver/ software that came with your graphics card, and avoid updating online.

if you think it is a virus, try clicking on this: http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/housecall/en/index.htm
click on complete scan

Sometimes it is hard to tell if you have a virus just by physical features on the computer itself. It would probably be in your best interest to buy a antivirus program or just download one from the internet for free. Some also has free trial which are just as good, but after they expire you will have to uninstall it or purchase it. I have had great luck with Panda Antivirus. The problem is when you look at how the computer is running you don't know if there is any hidden viruses. Panda will elimiante those. I also suggest that if you cannot buy a software, or don't want to mess with installing a free trial use Aol Safety and Security, it is also a good free program!

It might be a virus but It also could be that your graphical options are low. In your case I'd do a virus scan. The best one is kaspersky but it takes too much space on the computer another considerable option is Norton Antivirus or ZoneAlarm one.
I wish you a good luck
