I have a crazy and awesome dwarf flame gourami who is an aggressive eater and territory-defender. His name's Julius. Get it? Cuz he's orange. Orange Julius. I'm clever haha. Anyway, since I got him, a black phantom tetra and a tiger barb have totally disappeared from my tank. There's a lid on it so they couldn't have jumped out and they're not stuck in the filter or in the little pirate ship I put in for them. Did Julius eat them?? What about their skeletons??? They're just gone.

Did you remove all of the decorations to make sure no corpses were stuck there? (I'm kind of hoping you have plants and stuff in there, not just a single pirate ship)

Did you look all around the tank, even further then you might think and under furniture? It can be amazing how far they can jump, and how small a space in the lid they can jump out of.

The idea of a gourami munching on the dead body of another fish makes sense. The idea of eating another fish completely seems far fetched.

Unless someone in the tank is big enough to eat them whole you should find the bones. I'm not familiar with a Flame Dwarf Gourami - however, the dwarfs aren't usually that aggressive.

Is there any small opening the back of the tank? If so they may have jumped out there to get away for the Dwarfs aggressiveness.

Bettas dont get alongside nicely with different anabantids (i comprehend thats spelled incorrect) yet they are extremely styles of fish that breath atmospheric air. those fish comprise bettas and gouramis. Dwarf blue and a dwarf pleco. you're able to honestly decide to look for yet another tank in case you prefer greater fish. something under 10 gallons is tricky to inventory top, given which you cant do an excellent manage it. 20 gallons may be proper.
