If it's a single yarn, it may be 4-ply with 1 ply in a contrasting color. It's not just a wool yarn. It's also manufactured in cotton and in acrylic.

A 50-50 combination wouldn't look like "ragg". Three strands of one color and one strand of another would approximate ragg.

Ragg actually refers to the texture. It's a sturdy wool. It's thick and tough.
