First of all when your in the bios check to see if your hard drive is being detected in the bios. If you see it great. Also cisn't to see if your cd drive is listed. If it isn't showing up in the bios then probably the power connector has come loose or a cable inside could be loose. If your comfortable opening up your dot statio then open it and 1) check all the cables are firmly connected. 2) Locate the hard drive and then disconnect the cables and reconnect them to ensure that they are seated firmly. 3) Power up your system again and get into the bios to check if your hard drive is now listed. If its there you have one less thing to worry about. 4) If its still not showing up try using another connector cable or power supply connector. Most computer have more than one power connector that you can swap. 5) If your cd drive is detected in the bios then you know that the cd drive cables are working properly. 6) Swap the ide cable and the power connector connecting your cd drive to the hard disk drive. You would also need to swap the cable end that connects to the main circuit board (motherboard).Power on the system and get into the bios to check if the hard drive is not detected. If it is then you need to replace ide cable with a new one. If it is still not detected then your hard drive has gone bad and you need to get a new one. 7) if you require a new hard drive contact the reseller to check if you can get any warranty or replacement for the hard drive or buy a new one. 8) If your hard drive is detected restart the machine and check if it boots to your desktop. 9) Check your boot device options and set your hard drive as the primary or first boot device. All the best and hope this helps. 7)

The hard drive on your system may have died. Since the system cannot boot from C: it is going to the next device in the boot order, which is your floppy drive A:

If the hard drive it is not dead, it may need to be reloaded with system software. Try repairing XP.

Hi. Take a look at your BIOS and find the boot sequence. Change it to seek the floppy last.
