87 octane gas (regular) will work in any car, including cars that "require" premium. Many countries don't even serve multiple octane options at the fuel pumps, and car manufacturers are well aware of this fact. They all make their cars to be able to run on any commercial octane rating.
Your Benz will have slightly better performance with premium fuel, but that's all. If your car is not running well, then there is another problem with the car, or perhaps the gas was bad.

MBz engines are designed to run on almost any OCTANE rating of gasoline. Cheap gas is usually a mix of something other than gasoline. Sometimes we hear of water being used to mix with gasoline, because it is a real cheap mix. US model OBD-II cars (built after 1996) have an automatic octane selector that adjusts the ignition timing toward retard so as to eliminate engine knocking or Pinging. Your 2000 MBz is not designed to run on anything except gasoline. Not diesel, not nitro-methane, not alcohol, not water.
You had best drain your fuel tank or have it siphoned out so you can replace the contaminated fuel with pure gasoline.

The worst the gas would do in a hgh performance engine is give you a knock. You have mechanical problems.

I doubt it is the petrol causing your car to not go,
Get it on a tow truck and let the work shop take a look.
