I have a question for anyone that TRULY loves baseball.
Who is your favorite team in MLB? Why?
Who is your least favorite team? Why?
I want VALID reasons here people! If you love the Yankees, (like me) why do you love them? I love them because they are the most famous and successful sport franchise! Because they know what they're doing on the field and at bat. Because they're my home team, and I love everything about NYC! Do you see any other team reaching the standards they set? NOPE! 26 WS titles! The Yankees are the meaning of baseball for me. They're proof of the fact that baseball is more than just a sport. It's a sick obsession that takes over your life. The Yankees are about more than winning, they're about trying. Every single player on the team works his a** off as if it's his last game. They are my obsession. I mean, look at those numbers! Look at those stats! It's hard not to love them.
I want VALID reasons for your least fave too. Not just because they "suck."

Almost forgot. I HATE THE RED SOX!
I have a reason for this too.
Not only are they the rivals of the Yankees, but the Sox are just a horrible team in general. The only person I really like is Big Papi. The Sox fans say the Yanks have no pitching, but look at them paying him possibly all they have for Dice-K! Are they getting their money'sworth? Jason Varitek just never pulls through. He was good in the past but now he's just lost. Julio Lugo is a HORRIBLE shortstop. He rarely makes ANY plays. Manny is just dazed and lost this season. I don't know what the hell happened with him. CoCo Crisp is the same. He's just like "Huh? What? Who? Was I supposed to catch that?" His AVG. for 06 was 280. The man is struggling through his career with the Sox. Youkilis maybe good now but his golden years will fly by awful quick. And Sox fans are too quick to put the blame on people. Like the Yankees are to blame for the Curse of Bambino. Ya rite...Sox suck!
Yanks Love.
Hate the Sox.

Okay, yes it's true. The Sox are doing great this season. But history wise, the Yankees are a much better team. As sum 1 w/ @n @answer said, it's not about one season.

I have nothing to say to you. You're a Sux fan. I hate that. You stood up for your team, like anyone else would, which I like. Your answer is not going to affect me, or any other Sox hater for that matter. You stood up for your team, great, w/e. Just know it doesn't make the Sox any better. It won't help the Sox make it to the playoffs. It's not going to do anything. You're one fan in one nation. Cheer as loud as you want, but it's not upto you who wins the WS title this year. It's upto the two teams playing.
Your answer was too critical, but at least you stood up for your team.
Yankees Love, for now, and forever. <3

I LOVE the Red Sox (but I don't hate Yankee fans).
Why? Well, in 3rd grade, everyone was choosing whether to be a Red Sox or Yankees fan. All my friends chose the Yankees, so I had to be different and choose the Sox. After they won the World Series, I felt guilty about never watching a game, so I began watching the games. Every game, every day. It just grew into a giant love affair. It's hard to describe.
As for my least favorite team, I just can't say the Yankees because I'm a diehard Sox fan. I think it would have to be all the teams who never try to to win. They just get random players they can find, without spending any money on trying to build a real franchise that years down the road can turn into a winner.

Favorite Team: New York Yankees
My favorite team are the New York Yankees because I've been a New Yorker all of my life. I grew up loving the Yankees and their exciting games. Also, a lot of people hate them, so it's fun to prove them wrong. Every bad game, every bad start, and every bad play that the Yankees make, Yankee haters say that they suck. Sure, they aren't having a great start, but they'll turn things around. This happens a lot with them. The Yankees are unpredictable and have an awesome lineup. Their pitching isn't all that great, but once the Yankees start heating up again offensively, the pitching will have more energy. Also, the greats that came from this team so largely outnumbers the greats that came from any other team in their whole history. The Yankees were one of the first baseball teams and Yankee Stadium is a memorable one.
Least Favorite Team: Boston Red Sox
My least favorite team are the Boston Red Sox because they are the rivals of the Yankees. And anyone who is the rival of the Yankees must be really good too. I admit that the Red Sox are a good team, and at this point in the season, they are doing much better. However, baseball isn't about one season, it's about the whole history. As I said before, the Yankees have so many greats from their franchise. The Yanks are just unbelievable to me.

I don't really have a favorite team anymore. I used to like the A's with Ricky and Dave Henderson, Jose Canseco, and Mark McGwire, and the Cubs with Andre Dawson, Mark Grace, and Ryne Sandburg. They weren't always great, but they played hard all the time. They were real blue collar teams. The personalities on those teams were great too.
My least favorite team is the Pirates. Being from Pittsburgh, 1979 was a great year, but after that the Pirates went through their worst decade since the 50s. In 1985, they were in danger of being moved to St. Petersburg or Tampa, Florida. The three division winners in 1990, 1991, and 1992 didn't change my opinion of them because of the local media. The big kicker was when the Pirates re-signed Andy Van Slyke, an aging CF, and said they didn't have the money to sign Barry Bonds, the MVP, when in reality, they didn't make an attempt. The next season, Bonilia and Drabek were gone, and all they had to show for anything was an aging CF.

I root for the Yankees because I was born and raised in Brooklyn and everyone else in the country hates us for having a owner who has more interest in winning rather than making money. I hate the Sox and Mets because they buy out players too and call us the bad guys because we do a better job at it than they do. Not to mention we do a better job of making homegrown players. Kevin Youkilis is the only homegrown product in the starting line up for the Sox. As for the Mets its also just Reyes and Wright. The Yankees have Posada, Jeter, Cano and several pitchers such as Wang, Pettite, Hughes, and Rivera. But since the Sox fans are much worse than the Met fans I think I hate the Sox more. Congratulations you won one now theres nothing special about your team.

I am a Yankee fan. It is because I live in New York and I am a fan of their history. The first time that I saw Don Mattingly play, I was a Yankee fan ever since. My least favorite teams are the Red Sox and the Mets because they act like ******* when they are around Yankee fans.

If you're a BASEBALL fan, it has nothing to do with any individual team. It's about the game itself. A true fan will watch any game, any time, and from anywhere. A true fan will even watch a couple of young kids in the neighbourhood playing catch, because one will have the better arm and will show it off.
You're NOT asking about true baseball fans.
For the record, on April 15, 1997, when the impostor retired Jackie Robinson's number for all of MLB, there was a grandfather clause included. Any player who was then wearing the number was allowed to continue to do so for the rest of his career. Two chose to continue to do so, Mo Vaughn and Mariano Rivera, and each of them because they had always specifically asked for #42, as their own personal homages to Robinson. Vaughn retired a few years ago, leaving Riviera as the only player still allowed, by that grandfather clause to continue to wear #42. It has nothing to do with his being a Yankee, but everything to do with his personal memorial and thanks to Robinson. To FLAW, REAL baseball fans know this, too.

Favorite - Florida Marlins
Least Favorite - New York Yankees
I love the Marlins ever since they started their inaugural season back in '93. Miami has been my favorite place in the whole world for some time and to see them gain a baseball team just enlightened me. I've followed them for so long. It was great to see them win their 2 World Series. Although I do extremely hate the Yankees with 99.9 percent of my heart, that .1 percent is for the special moment when Joe DiMaggio threw out the first pitch. That is probabaly the only reason that I could like the New York Yankees. Or becasue of Derek Jeter. I am a Yankee hater, yes, but I see Jeter as something special and I root for him.

of direction they're actual die complicated followers. Why no longer? It quite does not count what human beings do for a residing. in case you like baseball, it quite is all that concerns. look at Jack Nicholson. the guy is a great time Lakers fan. he's there day in and trip, win or lose. Of each and every of the persons you have indexed i'm maximum acquainted with Billy Crystal. And sure, he's almost as super a Yankee fan as i'm. lol

The yankees are a bunch of whiney cheating babies. And their fans are the worst fans in baseball. Yankees fans suck. I've watched games that are played at yankee stadium and have seen you guys boo your own players! What kind of fair weather fans do that? You guys only like your team when they win. How did it feel when your team had the worst upset in baseball? I mean being swept after being up 3 games! I can point out numerous times of the yankees being the babies that they are. Plues we aren't the team with steroids rampent througout the club. Just look at Giambi. He is either about to die from steroid abuse or has a major thyroid condition, and Gary Shefield lol. Oh and picking up Johnny Damon. He wasn't that good when we had him. The yankees paid many hundreds of millions of dollars for him. Good investment.
Coco Crisp will be batting over 300 this year, I'd bet money on that. No pitching?
Curt Shilling
Tim Wakefield
Jonathen Paplebon
Hideki Okajima
Jason Varitek is a great catcher and the team captain for a reason. He plays well and consistant. And he can kick ******* ***, as we all know. Lugo don't care. Don't like him. The Devil Rays suck as much as the yankees. And Manny looks lost every season. He's a whiny ***** who's not worth 500 million. Hey! He should be a yankee. And your views on Youk are foundless. You can't see the future. Maybe yankees fan think they can. I bet they thought they'd win the World Series in 2004. lmao.
We don't blame the yankmees for losing. Like quite a few ballclubs in American we had a curse. But it was always on us. And Boston has the best fans anyway. We have fans that stay with us win or lose. The yankmees lose one game and people want blood. The curse never existed we just had bad luck and our best wasn't good enough. But at least Boston has the best people, the best attitude, none of them take steroids, or whine when they lose. None of get booed by their own people. The yankees suck not because they are bad players but because they suck at life. They are whiney bitches. And Jeter is gay. Nothing against that but ask any any gay person and they will tell you that derek jeter is a homosexual.
One more note. In the grand scheme of things it IS about one season. One season and a manager can lose his job over a bad one. One season and player can tear a muscle and be sent down. One season can make all the difference in the world. If Tory (sp) was fired if the yankees didn't win the world series, one season would matter a great deal. In the ens it can all come down to one season.

My favorite team is the Atlanta Braves. They are extremely successful with 14 straight division titles under their belts. But, not only that but I like basically all of their players. Jeff Francoeur is disgusting and this is only his second season. Chipper and Andruw Jones are both future Hall of Famers, and they have young players like Brian Mccann that have a really good chance of making something of themselves. Then there is the pitching rotation which includes Timmy Hudson who is nasty and another future Hall of Famer John Smoltz. My least favorite team would have to be the Yankees actually. You may not like this but it is true. They are terribly successful and thats a good thing, but i don't like anyone on their roster except for Derek Jeter. Bobby Abreu is a fat waste who is afraid of the outfield wall. Johnny Damon has no skills whatsoever. A-Rod is having a good start but he is so wrapped up in all of the money he is making that hes up for a big decline. Roger Clemens just gets signed and with his money they could fund an entire baseball team. The Yankees are just filled with highly paid baseball players that are all just trying to be stars. But wait, there's more. Then there is Mariano Rivera who doesn't deserve to wear Jackie Robinson's number regardless of how "good" you Yankee fans think he is. It just isn't right that he should be able to do that. Anyway, the Braves are amazing and i just don't liek the Yankees.
