Hi Laureta. My daughter, son-in-law & 5 grandchildren live in a finca outside El Altet. I live in Wales so I try to visit them as much as possible (at least twice or three times a year). Before they moved there 5 years ago I knew little about Spain but, during my visits I have grown to love the country, the lifestyle and, particularly the many Spanish people I've met through spending time with my daughter & family. My dream is to have a small apartment near where they live while keeping my home in Wales. That way I'll have the best of both worlds.

I have only been once and it was to Lloret De Mar in Costa Brava, which has unfortunately turned into a little britain in the sun!! It was full of English pubs and tarts in short skirts - would never go back to that resort. However, all the spanish people that I met were very friendly, polite and accomidating
I am going to do work experience in Spain at the end of June for 3 weeks. It is about one hour from Mallaga Airport and is nearer to the mountains. I cant wait and I am getting spanish lessons at the moment.
You speak great english and I think its great that you love England so much!!

It is important that Mallorqines travel outside the island. You don't want to be a stupid 'cateto' do you?
You will miss the sun and find England very expensive.
Be careful where you go.
Think about a small historic town and avoid places such as Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and Glasgow where the accent is seen as 'common' and difficult to understand.
Edinburgh is great.
Remember that you can only go into bars legally at 18 years old.
Everyone in England loves Spain but they do not know what it is to live and work there. Thus everyone loves Spain.
You see they do not have to watch old Lola Flores and Marisol films on TV like you have to!
I live in London and miss 'frit' and good ensiamadas.

I love Spain and I have family there. My favorite city is Barcelona one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe, I past my honeymoon there and I return to the city a decade latter with my kids. I also like Valencia, Segovia and Toledo. I will like to visit Seville and Granada in my next travel to Spain.
Is impressive the way the Spaniards get together, following the end of Franco's dictatorship, to construct one of the greatest countries and economies of Europe. I will hope that my country can do the same.
Saludos a toda la gente buena de Mallorca.

I have lived in the mountains of Andalucia with my family for over 16 years now and love it.
The Spanish people are friendly, the climate great, the food good and the way of life relaxing.
I certainly wouldn´t go to live in England although it is good for a visit.
If you are interested you can read about my thoughts and feelings on moving to Spain here:-
