The system comes with one remote controller that is wireless, plus a nunchuck attachment controller that connects to the remote and allows you extra motion-sensing functionality.
Additional remotes are 40 dollars a piece nationwide in the U.S., no matter what the retailer, since the price is set by Nintendo. Nunchucks are 20 dollars a piece as well. To save money on an additional remote, you may want to buy WiiPlay, which is a video game for the Wii that features minigames like WiiSports but the game includes 1 remote controller (no nunchuck though). WiiPlay is 50 dollars.

Yep just one, but that doesn't limit how mant people can play the Wii Sports game, if you want multiple players, you simply hand-off the controller to the next person.
P.S. The Wii is SUPER AWESOME!
