A broken bone heals very quickly compared to ligament damage. The pain from ligaments can last from months to years, depending on the severity of the injury.
so the worst is a damaged ligament.

In most cases a torn ligament is worse to have than a broken bone because the blood flow to bone is much better than to ligaments and you need blood flow to a structure to have healing. It should be noted that a sprain of a ligament in many cases is less severe than a broken bone and that is still damage to the ligament. In a sprain all the fibers are still in tact but they are stretched. In a torn ligament some of the fibers are not in tact, and in a rupture of a ligament none of the fibers are in tact.

Well, that totally depends on the area of the break & the severity. My son broke his femur in Aug 2004 & it took until April of this year to heal. 6 surgeries & 2 non-unions.
My daughter had ligaments repaired in her knee & it took about 8 months to heal

Right on point . . . .ligament. They take forever to heal and can be bothersome later on down the road as one ages, especially when there is rain with the barometric temperature changes and effects the muscles.
