Remember the land was there long before the house.

Their friends could have died on that land long before the house was built, and long before good records were kept.

In the US we would do a title search through the Clerk of the Circuit court. Check around there for the equivalent that keeps and records property records.

Sylvia Brown would be able to help you (she is a Physicic on Montel Williams each Wednesday). She answers questions like this every week as to the name of spirits inhabiting homes and how they died and exactly when they lived.

Good Luck.

I suppose the county courthouse (OK , town hall, city hall, for UK same idea.. the local government) will have the records of all deeds and title transfers.

Also, go to a nearby bar and look for some old geezers in the corner. Ask them about recent owners of the house and if any "stories" circulated in the 1900's?? There's no proof that your ghosts are from the original owners, or the 1800's.

Or just anybody that is old in the area. I only said "bar" and "geezers" because I am one, and we love to talk about the past.

PS: There is a modern theory about ghosts. The "ghost" is actually an extension of the subconscious ID of the people who are living in the house at the moment. You are being haunted by a deeper part of yourself. Trying to express yourself from within.
Does it seem like the "ghosts" are trying to contact you? Trying to show you something about themselves that you find familiar? Showing a grouchy, angry side for no reason?
It could be....you.

Go to the town hall and look up whatever info the assessors have about previous owners and about the property deeds. While you are there see if there is a local historic commission that may have more details on older homes.

go to the town hall of where the house is being bought. You will be able to find all of the previous owners of the property there. My husband and I did that when we were looking to buy a house...you would be surprised what you will find out about the house you are buying :o)
