Since I don't speak/read Farsi, my reading of Iranian authors is confined to translated versions.
However, I have read - and thoroughly enjoyed - the following books:

"Touba And the Meaning of Night" and "Women Without Men: A Novel of Modern Iran" by Shahrnush Parsipur

"At the Wall of the Almighty" and "The Bathhouse" by Farnoosh Moshiri

"Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America" by Firoozeh Dumas

and my favorite

"Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books" by Azar Nafisi

Azar Nafisi's "Reading Lolita in Tehran" got quite a bit of attention. I read it and found it really delightful, and I know it is taught in university courses. That's the only popular book I have read by an Iranian author. I think in time more people will read it.

I have read other books by Iranians, but they are all books about politics in Iran, or the Revolution, or religion, and I doubt that any of them will become extremely famous. It seems like a lot of books on Iran by Iranian writers are not translated from Farsi, and until popular works are widely translated into multiple languages, I don't know if they will gain any ground on the world's radar screen.

I liked "The Pilgrims Rules Of Etiquett" by Taghi Modheressi. Its really interesting and the author is a very nice man. I corresponded with him when I couldnt find a copy of his other book,"The Book Of Absent People" he sent a signed uncorrected proof to me, and I still have it 20 years later. Both books are an interesting study of Iran in transition.
