I bought a dvd drive from a computer expo a few years ago, and I haven't been able to burn dvds.
It is a Nec DVD-RW ND-1300A
I saw some firmware floating around the internet, but I don't want to install an unverified driver.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
I tried the NEC site, but I don't think they offer the driver online...

I should clarify that I do have DVD burning software, it's just that the DVD drive refuses to burn it.

Very likely you will need a firmware upgrade. I bought a TDK DVDRW and it would not burn 16 speed DVD's. I found out that 16 speed DVD's were not even out when I bought the burner, but TDK had a firmware upgrade and after installing, it would burn the 16 speed DVD's.

You need a DVD burning software. Boxed retail models of Samsung, LG, etc. usually come bundled w/ Nero burning software and Power DVD for viewing movies.
