If you are talking about the number of US death in Iraq versus the number killed in WWII there is no comparison. Approximately 3,500 US military killed in Iraq as opposed to 407,300 US military deaths in WWII.
As for those bleeding hearts, they are under the impression that Islamic terrorists are like common criminals. In other words, we should provide detainees with lawyers and we must not deprive them of their civil rights. We must not use torture to illicite information but it is ok for them to behead or execute with a bullet to the back of the head of any of our men that they capture. It is ok for the other side to burn the bodies of captured US servicemen and hang them from bridges. But if we make them wear panties on their heads or form human pyramids, that is "torture". (more akin to college fraternity hazing which I would wager that some of the liberals in the college crowd have participated in). No, if we fought in Iraq the way we did in WWII, we'd be out of there by now. In WWII we did not worry about collateral damage or assigning lawyers to POW's. War was war. Since these liberals will never fight as part of the military (they prefer that others do the fighting for them) they will never understand the damage they are doing to our efforts over in Iraq.

The 'war' is over. 'We' won. Now we're involved in an occupation where 'we' have zero advantage. The Iraqis may be divided into a dozen or more sub-groups all fighting each other, but all of them are united in getting the western crusaders off their turf. At this point a several thousand Iraqis leave Iraq everyday. Several dozens are killed everyday. Everyday more of Iraq's essential infastructure is destroyed or becomes inoperable. The corruption of the puppet government, the ill-trained Iraqi military and the incompetent Iraqi police makes matters worse. The litany goes on and on. The point here is that sending in a western infantry to create a democratic, western style society in an Islamic middle eastern country simply doesn't cover enough of the bases. Driving up and down the streets in Humvees adds nothing to the equation. Flying overhead in helicopters adds nothing. Roadblocks, checkpoints, barriers and the establishment of a Fort 'Green Zone' isn't the ticket either. Bottom line...the 'War' is won, the occupation is lost.

WWII was a war that was fought for a reason, we went to war because we were bombed at Pearl Harbor, that's the Japanese side of things. And on the European front, we had a man like Hitler who had to be stopped by he allies.
As far as the war in Iraq, we went to war because a President didn't want to listen to the reports of someone at the UN saying that there were no weapons of mass destruction, and to date none have been found.
So, which war is a real war, no question there.
Already the war in Iraq has lasted longer then WWII and we are no closer to an end to this war, which really isn't a war, and the people don't even want us there. So, let's face it, we are losing soldiers for no real reason, and losing money that is putting us in debt that we can't afford for nothing. Obviously you don't agree, but this war is a waste of manpower and money. WWII was a necessary evil.

I think the reason is because the Iraq war is perceived as a war of ideology, politics, and imperialism. I think the American Public believes this war to be optional, and Americans are dying needlessly.
The perception of WWII is different. The Axis Powers were openly trying to take over the world, and another foreign government attacked our military, drawing us into a war. America had no choice but to fight or be conquered, literally. The invasion of Iraq was not seen as necessary by many. When we realized that Iraq had no nukes, chemical weapons, or any intention whatsover of attacking the US, MOST people came to believe the war to be completely unnecessary.
Who are we fighting against? The insurgents? Al Queda? Islam? That depends on who you ask. In WWII, the enemy was certain. We were fighting the Axis powers, who attacked us first, who were hell bent about taking over the globe and murdering millions of innocent people to accomplish that goal.

Iraq is not a war, it's a conflict of choice on our part, the whole premise your question is based upon is not accurate. It's going much worse none the less. The world knew the enemy, during the second world war, other than a formless group of people we call terrorists, who is the enemy in Iraq? Maybe it's us. We removed Saddam because he was a tyrant with super-human powers on the verge of destroying the universe, even though he had never recovered from Desert Storm's asswhipping. He was a threat to those around him but Iraq certainly wasn't filled with "the enemy", terrorists. Need I remind you, that for four years the republicans controlled government, all of it. Why have they not taken the gloves off would be a more accurate question.

This is not a World War! These two wars are very different! I am not against the soldiers! It's the war I am against! In W.W.2 the whole world fought together! The United States was the last to join in on that war after we were bombed in Pearl Harbor! My Heart bleeds enough to want not just our boys but our girls as well to come alive and safe!

Let us hope the fighting in Iraq will not come near to WW II.
But if it is not stopped very soon, no Iraqi will be left alive in the country. They are killing each other off and that is a shame. They are brothers by nationality and religion and as long as your senate is permitted to direct the happening in Iraq, it will go on and on and more of your brave young men will die.

first off you can't compare WWII and iraq. wee were provoked into the war by the jap attack on our navy at pearl harbor. yes there are other reasons, but i won't go into them now. but WWII was a conventional war, fought by soldiers from different sides in pitched battles on the ground, in the air, and at sea. because of military intelligence, we mostly knew where the other side was at all times and there were few surprises-aside from that nasty bit at pearl. we knew who the enemy was and they had the courage to wear a uniform and show their faces. iraq is a clusterfuck because we really don't know who the enemy is and for the most part they are cowards who hide behind hoods and use innocent looking civilian vehicles to blow our guys to pieces. they don't have the guts to fight us in a conventional war, mainly becasue they know we could kick the living **** out of them. in fact, many of them aren't even iraqis. just like the assholes who slammedthose planes into the WTC. they were mostly arabs, but we ain't fighting in their country becasue georgie's daddy is BFF with their king. the same **** happened in the nam; the generals knew what needed to be done but the idiotic, ignorant, *** kissing politicians wouldn't let them run the war. i say send the chickenshit politicians over there and let them fight the war. george bush is one of the biggest ******* in the world, right along with his *** kissing buddy dickface cheney.

we knew who our enemies were in WWII...there was a battle front to push back, there were clear cut sides and enemies, and we were fighting a real army.....
in this war there is no battle front to pus back, there are no clear cut side, anyone including women and children could walk in with a bomb strapped to their chest and blow themselves up, and we're fighting an IDEA not an ARMY...
we'd have to invade every country in the middle east and kill every single person there to stop terrorism...it's impossible for us to do.
