a factorial takes a number and multiplies it down to 1, decreasing by 1 each time, so,

8! = 8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1
4! = 4*3*2*1

8!/4! = (8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1) / (4*3*2*1)

the 4*3*2*1 cancels out

so it becomes 8*7*6*5 = 1680

4! = 4 x 3 x 2 x 1
8!/4! = 8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1/4x3x2x1 =
