First, why'd she do it? Was it with good cause?
But, since we can't let them do what they want even if we do think it's funny:
If she's over 8, she has to write a paper about what she did, why she did it, why she shouldn't have, and what she might do differently in the future. 2 sentences for each why/what
5-8 25 lines of I will not cuss people out.
Under 5: Time out missy! 2 minutes for each bad word used.
Sometimes, it's necessary to punish your child even while you're still chuckling about what they did. You gotta explain to them that even though you think it's funny, it's not OK.
Even if the guy deserved it, she probably could have made her point without cussing. So if he did deserve it, you need to make clear that she's in trouble for cussing, not for standing up for himself.

If she cussed someone out, then perhaps they deserved it?
The fact that she cussed them out in Japanese just means that she is worldly . lol
Don't punish her. Reward her for standing up for herself and being an independent person!
Cheers

Sodesnai (that is so) in Japanese. Just enjoy her being multi-lingual wish my kids would put the effort to learn from me.

If the man doesn't speak Japanese, no harm done this time. You had better start teaching her that she cannot continue to do this. Every time she cusses, you should put a small drop of Tobasco sauce on her tongue.

Leave her be, she's taking a stand against something he said or did to her.
If she's not cursing in normal conversation...let it go.
I'd ask what the hell he said or did...she may need a little help with a situation.
