My Dad's family is in Iowa. they call it "pop". I'm from southwest Illionois, we call it "soda', but everything cola gets called "coke".
In St. Louis on the south side, they call lemon lime sodas like 7-up and Sprite "white soda"
In Las Vegas, we ordered a soda, specified coke or 7-up, and were brought soda water. The waiter didn't speak English well.

I called it "pop" for my first 18 years when I lived in Iowa.

I called it "soda" when I moved to MIssouri for a year.

I called it "coke" (any sort of carbonated bevarge = "coke" in the South) when I moved to Georgia.

Ever since (and I've lived in MANY places since), I just call it all "soda".
