The plane trip is no problem whatever.

People very often take babies younger than six months on these trips.

Many people travel with babies of only one month age, and quite a few just two weeks after birth.

The youngest I have seen was less than one week. The mother left the hospital in the morning and departed on the flight in the evening.

If the baby is not being breast-fed than formula may be taken on bord the flight.

I suggest you take the additional step of getting a note from the doctor for whatever liquid baby needs you wish to take on the plane, because some airport security personnel like to impose their authority and cause unnecessary problems.

You are allowed to take an extra piece of hand baggage onto the plane for the baby's immediate needs. Other things may be sent in checked baggage. To/from North America the baby is entitled to one piece of checked baggage, with maximum total dimensions of 45 inches. Shortly before the travel date check with the airline for a current weight limit on the piece, as these have been changing and may continue to change as the very high cost of fuel forces airlines to seek ways of cutting costs.

Every baby should definitely have a health check by their pediatrician before travel.

Serious problems with babies on board flights are quite rare.

Do you mean just the baby and granny? She'd have to be a great mom to do that. To be able to take care of all the baby's needs for a long period of time. Just make sure she wouldn't be too trusting of strangers with your baby. Like let some stranger keep the baby while she stepped over here a minute. You know what I mean?

no there is not but if you really are in a hurry then you can but have a baby at such an altitude may be risky, you can find out more from your paediatrician.
