It might make it a lot harder to go to sleep. It's better not to exercise for an hour or two before bed. Sort of like eating before bed.

Exercise is essential to a healthy lifestyle so do it whenever you can. If just before you go to bed is the best or only time you can do it then that's fine.
I used to exercise late at night as that was my only window of opportunity and it worked fine for me.
Do remember that exercise raises your metabolic rate, gets you hot and sweaty and makes you more alert. All of which may make sleeping more difficult.
Try taking a cool shower after your workout and before hitting the sack as this will help to cool you down and relax you.

Ideally exercise should be done at least 3 hours before you go to sleep, as an increased heart rate and release of adrenalin will keep the mind active and therefore take longer to 'drift off' to sleep. That being said, its far better to do excercise even just before bedtime than none at all as it reduces stress levels by dissipating any build up of lactic acid in the blood - less stress = better quality sleep.

Pushups in bed are just fine and you both can sleep better.

No, it's not bad. I do it about 4-5 days a week. BUT, if it gets your heart rate up quite a bit you may find it more difficult to relax and go to sleep.

You will struggle to sleep as your heartrate has to drop in order for you to relax, and you must relax before you can go to sleep. Also, during sleep your body temperature falls, and by rising it (by working out) you will therefore have to wait for it to fall again before sleep.
