It could be fixed easily by allowing government funded elections! Each person gets x-amount of time to campaign and x-amount of money and that's it! If this kind of thing were to happen everyone could run for office and not just millionaires and those with millionaire friends!

For the most part, we run on a two-party system, and these two parties are the largest and most well known of all of the options we have. Most candidates who are not in the spotlight, or who can't afford to run as much advertisement are not well known. Which is the reason that they are very rarely elected into any governmental position. You can't vote for someone you've never heard of, can you?

It's a good investment. With about $10 per resident spent, the politicians get to direct about $2000 per resident.
Using today's population and the gpo's numbers.
That's a 20000% return on investment.

We don't condone it. Matter of fact, alot of us would like to see a change done to the voting system and how funds are raised. I personally would like to see a revamp done to the Electoral College. I think television networks should give out free spaces and each candidate get an equal amount of airtime regardless of whether or not they can afford it. I'd like to see a candidate get elected without owing anyone a single favor....just my two cents.

What do you mean condone it? Wise up boy! WE DEMAND IT. It's all about the show, the entertainment value. You dolts would be perfectly happy if we held elections like American Idol.

Our supposed 'democracy' is a complete joke. BUT we do believe that the differences between Candidates are more important than a couple billion. Policy between different candidates can have differences in the TRILLIONS.
But our democracy is a joke, it's like asking two wolves and a sheep what's for dinner.

Good Point, my Friend. But you have to follow-up with that. And know that ANY changes have to come with the support of most Ameicans. With the small percentage of Americans voting? It's no wonder we get who we have now. The Power is in the Vote. And that's where the change is gonna happen. Are you with me?

There is no explanation. People should run on their citizenship qualities, not the money they can get to make them look prettier than what they are. Makes me think of a woman using make-up. What "lies" beneath?

We have something here called "freedom of speech". Ever heard of that? This includes the right to spend money on campaigns, to make your views known.
If you don't like it, too bad for you
Has your country even sent men to walk upon the Moon? Our has. When you can accomplish this, get back to us.
