why is traffic called rush hour when it is going so slow

Because everyone's "rushing" to get somewhere; eg. home after a day's work.
With so much extra traffic "rush hour" becomes "grid lock" quite quickly.

becasue its the time of the day when a lot of people are on the road usually rushin to or from work. depending on where you live the times vary
