and I need to get my paperworks collected asap so I can become a Canadian resident. Does anyone know where I should send my passport to get it corrected, and will they send it back to Canada. I really would not want to fly all the way back to California to get my passport corrected.

You may not want to hear this but why didn't you have it changed the first time you received your passport? Then you moved to another country without doing it and now you are in a bind.

But all is not lost!

Here is the list of American Embassies/Consulates in Canada where you can have your passport corrected.**

depends on when the passport was issued - if issued less than one year ago - you might be able to use DS-5504 - if more than one year it would be the DS-82. Check also with the embassy or consulate to make sure the corrections can be made while living overseas.
