Brother and Sisters, here in India, if you are spotted with a gun, you are finished. The cops will rush in and take you to the station and wont leave you until you say where the gun came from. Even if you say it, you will have to spend years in the jail. Because of this reason, even crimes are going on in India, there is a sense of saftey. I can be confident that no one will shoot my kid when he is in his classroom. I can be confident enough to fight with the guy who broke into my house at night. I can be confident that my angry drunk neighbour wont shoot me when I am out with my dog. I can be confident that my psychopath friend wont go out spree with his gun. Are these things possible in America??

there are 250,000,000 guns in the United States. There are only 300,000,000 people in the United States.

Since you live in India you don't know the influence of the National Rifle Association or you would not ask this question.

Their are more gun lobbyist in Washington that will make sure that guns will always be legal.

I would not try to compare India to the United States..these are too different cultures. The United States was built on Guns, Guts and God...so gun control won't happen in this country unless there is a dictator who would take over..like the Nazi regime did in Germany.

Guns don't kill people...people kill people...
more people get killed with stuff like automobiles (over 120 people a day die in the United States per day via the cars and trucks) also fast food like MC Donald's kills people..so guns are not high on our priority list...as look at our vice president ..shot a man..and opps..sorry..nothing done..

case closed..

Sure we can enforce gun bans, that way only law-abiding citizens would turn them in and the only ones armed would be thugs, murderers and criminals.
Recently, a mall shooter was brought down by an off-duty cop who was armed. The fact that anyone can have a gun, and law-abiding citizens maintain order such as they do, is testament to the fact that we can trust the populous. Whenever the government can disarm the people totally, they are totally at their mercy. We don't trust government. Any form of military take-over of 340 million armed citizens, even a fraction thereof is preposterous--look at Iraq, a few thousand insurgents cannot be quelled. An armed populous is an independent populous, something that socialists and communists abhore.

yes guns should definetly be illegal in America, to many gun crimes and innocent peopel die. We just need better law enforcement to. Guns suck and are never used for good only evil. I don't know about anyone else but I don't want to be shot

Well if the law banned guns for civilians, then people will smuggle, manufacture, or hide their personal weaponry which is already happening anyways; however, these people are usually crooks, so the good people won't have weapons to defend themselves with. . .

No, it's not possible. You stick to your society/culture/beliefs and we'll stick to ours. I hate it that the rest of the world thinks they know how to "fix" America. Fix you own country's problems first.

Studies have proven time and time again that tighter gun control laws only lead to a higher rate of crime. Look at Washington D.C. where even the Cops have to check their guns in and out. They have the worst crime rate in the NATION!

They are possible, but unlikely. One major problem is that gun advocates have the vague (but misleading) part of the US Constitution on which to hang a claim that we all have the right to own guns. They couple this with a ridiculous notion that you need guns to stop the government from being to powerful, all the while forgetting that the size of the US police and military force makes any sort of armed resistance by civilians to be ludicrous. I would cherish the day that guns were regulated in the US as much as in other cilviized countries, but at the same time I never expect to see such a day.
