Not all Christians think as you have discribed. But some of those who do are of the opinion that anyone who hasn't accepted Jesus as their Savior is a servant of the Devil, hence evil.
I think people should just get over their religious hang ups and realize that we have the freedom to choose our own beliefs.

I wouldn't call you evil. Just misinformed. You're right. You have the right to choose your own path. Even God gives you that right. I'm not saying your choice is right, just that you have a right to make that choice. But you also have a right to whatever consequences that come with the choices you make; as we all do. Sometimes people who call themselves Christian approach those who are not the wrong way. It is self righteous to call someone evil because we all are like filthy rags before God. None of us can say we are good, we are just striving to be acceptable to God. I'm sorry that you feel all Christians think you are evil because thats not the case. Don't include us all in the same company that a few like your mother would make you think. Real Christians are not Religious. Religion is just an external show of piety without internal change. If we have learned anything from Christ that we should extent to the world, it's that Christ drew us with cords of love and we are to do the same. You will never win someone over by being critical and judgemental. Maybe you should let your mom know that. By the way, you're not really an atheist, you just got wounded in your childhood. The catch 22 is that it is going to take Christ to show you what was done to you because you were too young to remember. No matter how you try to pretend you are ok with this issue, you have been crying inside for a long, long time. But as I said, it is your decision. Might want to give it a little more thought.

I am not an atheist but I would not assume you are evil for being one.
In my opinion there are two kinds of atheist.
Those who cannot believe in a god because they need some kind of fact or logical reason to support such a belief. I have no problem with these. I will defend them sometimes when others attack them because everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.
The second kind annoy me. They have decided that all religion is wrong and don't simply disbelieve but cling to a faith that there cannot be a god and anyone who denies their faith must be chastised continuously till they repent or die. They are exactly the same as the most devoted Jehovah's witnesses. They will harass anyone who appears to believe in anything but what they believe.
If you just don't believe but don't see a need to convert everyone else to not believing then thats your business and I see no need to harass you about it.
But,
If you think its your duty in life to make a Christian miserable at least 10 times a day then you deserve any abuse you get.

Atheist or not....all have sinned. Sin being a standard of right and wrong, which I believe has been established by God. If God doesn't exist...where do we get the concept of right and wrong? Is it everyone establishes their own? Society proves that idea to be crazy because look at the laws we have placed for ourselves. The very fact that we have police to 'keep us in line' shows that the heart of every man is evil. And evil is even beyond our actions...it's our thoughts...our motives....our every way of life. I believe there are none who are 'good.' There has been and will always be only one....Jesus. And the only 'good' thing that can be in anyone....is him. I encourage you to seek him out....search for yourself and ask yourself....'Who is this Jesus character?' Apart from him...there's just no hope.

I don't think you're evil at all, nor do I think any atheist is evil just because they're an atheist. So not all Christians think that atheists are evil, horrible people.
My husband was an atheist when I first met him (now he's agnostic), and his mother is an apathetic atheist, which I think is the worst kind. But I still love them both, and think no less of them for their choices.
I'm sorry your mother doesn't respect your choice. Many other Christians would, and do.

I don't know any christian that would tell you that. Sorry you had to hear it like that.
I think they were concerned and thought if they use those terms that it would "make" you change your mind. No one can "make" a person change their mind.
You need to reconcile with your mom. If she is a christian she would not treat you this way. I hope you can forgive her of her actions.
If I didn't know about the saving grace of God, I sure would want someone to tell me. But if after being told, one make a decision to believe or not believe, then its their decision and it should be respected.

Well. I'm a Christian, and I dont see you as being evil. We all have a sin nature that needs redeeming.
And even though we believe, follow and have accepted Jesus, were still sinners. There's forgiven and unforgiven sinners.
They need to go back and read Brother Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:8-13; Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Theres not one of us who was not at one time walking around in spiritaul blindness (according to the scriptures.)
