wow, the first answer, as expected, is an insult from an atheist. is the hatred so big that they can't see what's wrong with their behaviour?

Esau's birthright, which he sold for a meal, was his inheritance as the firstborn son. Esau "despised his birthright" by letting his hunger overwhelm his concern for things of lasting value.

God left Jacob evidence of His physical presence-a limp.

I am going to give this a shot. Jacob stole Issac's blessing and inheritance, but I think we see a lot of other things going on. Rebekah is the one who set the tone for deceitfulness. So one thing I am picking up is just because someone is your Mother do not mean they will always want what is best for you, those were both her sons. The second thing is life some time gives us some unfair deals and are we going to strike back with anger or turn the other cheek. Esau is saying he's going to get his brother. But once again the Mother steps in and save the youngest son. We often see this in many families. I think without reading further we do not get the lesson. But those are just a few things that I picked out of this chapter. I hope I did not confuse you more, sorry I could not offer more.

Hello Jacob means deceiver when the two were born Jacob grabbed the heal of His brother, they represent two different personality's, one hung onto God's promises despite everything, one if you will recall in Gen 25:32\1-34 Esau sold His very birthright for some stew, one personality God loved/loves the other He hates as He said in Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
you may want to go and read the entire story in Romans 9 so as to keep it IN CONTEXT that is very important when studying scripture and speaking of studying scriptures free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

Part of the mythology that springs up around the family of Abraham includes the argument that the Hebrews were the only true inheritors of Abraham's covenant with God. That is, that they were to be the ones who kept the covenant with God and inherited the land and the promise. And so you see that Ishmael was cast out from Abraham's household (and promptly disappears), leaving the covenant to the "child of promise" Isaac. The same thing occurs in Isaac's household, where Esau gives up his claim to Abraham's covenant for himself and his descendents for a bit of Jacob's stew.

And thus it is Jacob's children... Israel's children... who inherit Abraham's rights according to the Bible. It's not the Edomites or the Arabs, even though they were believed to be the children of Abraham, too. This story just shows that they weren't part of the "right" branch of the family.

Personally, it all reads like a self-glorifying Hebrew myth, but that's me.

Remember how we were made first God formed Adam from the dust. (flesh) Then he breathed into him (spirit) and the two became a living soul. God in many places tells that the first shall serve the last. We are taught that the spirit should rule the flesh. the Bible teaches that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. God is a spirit and we worship him in spriit and truth.

The problem all sprang from a deity who is uncannily all too concerned with earthly territories, made good his role as an omniscient real estate broker, and an outright racist.
