If she has a mother in law, that means she is married. Therefore, she is either an adult or at least a teen responsible for her own well being now, and she can do whatever she wants to.

I hope she is an adult if she has a mother in law and not a child bride. My aunt married and went to the middle east and he darn near killed her. We had to fake a funeral to get her home and away from the islamic beast.
