this persons answer made me curious, but it also made me very sad..........

I have a better idea.
Why don't you study all major religions in this world, Christian, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism and after that choose which religious teaching can convince you that God actually exist and there is actually heaven and hell.

does anyone honestly believe they can read something that convinces them there is a God.......is no one willing to do the footwork anymore? is this a reflection of our fastfood mentality?

Dear Tony L,

It's rather interesting because we just had a Bible study tonight on how the Holy Spirit works to draw people's hearts to God.

i think that i'd be a little bit scared if someone was so quick to change their religion just by reading a paragraph. That being said- i think many people on here asking questions have done some introspection and realize that they may not have the answers to many of life's important questions, and perhaps even looking at how they look at life and wondering if it's correct.

That being said- i think it is a healthy forum to stimulate thoughts and questions, and it's great for people to ask these questions and to study and to have a faith that is based something more concrete than personal opinions.

i don't know that you have to study all religions. But i think you can look at the basis of each religion and see if the basis is based upon man's beliefs or God's revelation of Himself.

i do agree with you though that people have many questions about God, the Bible etc., but are not willing to do the work to find those answers- and as a result you often have people who don't know what they truly believe or are tossed about by every new wind of doctrine- because they lack a solid foundation.

Kindly,

Nickster

The Bible says:

"faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word" (Romans 10:17).

So yes, exposure to truth and evidence changes people's minds, just like any eduction does. People used to think tomatoes were poison until botanists started writing about them and people changed their minds and dared eat them.

If Christianity is true, there should be a ring of truth to it. The eyewitness testimonies should count for something, and certainly all the archaeological evidence should factor in.

And one doesn't have to investigate all religions to find a starting place, since there are really only about a handful of world religions, and everthing else is but an offshoot or cult of one of these.

Some religions are not even about God. For example, Buddhism doesn't even really concern itself much with God, focusing instead on individual enlightenment. Oh brother.

Start with Christ. He came, claimed to be deity, and rose from the dead of His own accord. You can go to the places he went, and you can read plenty about his life and ministry.

I personally was more of a new ager, sort of picking and choosing what I wanted to believe and melding it all together, as I picked on Christians. But as I was exposed to more and more literature, knowledge, and the Bible itself, I finally had to concede that there was more in favor of the Christian claim than was against. I had "honestly" been convinced by reading and learning and being open to God's Holy Spirit. Now I know by experience, what I first thought was simply strong evidence pointing me there.

Your right all the reading is not going to convience you there is a God. God will reveal himself to you. He will chose you and you will feel his presence and you will have the (blinders) lifted off your eye's and your heart and then you will know. God does not reveal himself in the same way to everyone. Reading may be the avenue for some but not all. Even the hadicapped have a revelation and know God's presents. I have witnessed God move on a handicapped child so she could speak after 25 years of throat damage. Since she was a baby. God chose the time to move and it is not for us to know his plans only to be ready for our individual plan from Him.

The only thing that convinces them that there is a god, is that they have an emotional need for that kind of stuff. Most of them don't even understand most of the Bible.

You are not able to persuade someone to consider in God or Jesus. Quit bullying your peers. You are best frustrating them and can reason them to avert you. The best manner you'll be a christian is to like them, be type to them and don't speak about faith until THEY deliver it up. You too can pray for them.
