Sure it's possible to be trying so hard you missed the mark. I wouldn't call it "acting themselves," it's more like "being yourself." Just cuz things don't work out the way you want them to doesn't mean you being yourself is a bad thing. It could be your delivery of it, narcissistic, or maybe fake. When someone isn't who they are, people can tell and it's a turn off. Consider that being yourself, being comfortable with who you are comes a lot of good things that are attractive to others: confidence, security, trust, a real genuine person. It allows others to know where they stand with this person, that they can rely on this person, drop defenses, and they don't have to worry.
I don't like fake people, it screams a deep level of insecurity that tells me most likely, they are not trustworthy. You can't do anything with a fake person, but you can do anything with a real person. They way you feel about yourself is transparent to others. Don't second guess yourself and don't give your power away to others by allowing their opinion to influence your actions. Work on loving who you are and being proud of who you are and then you'll be confident and proud of who you've become.

when they be your self they mean personality wise, as far as confidence and other issues like that, every girl wants that. And as for the other part i guess it is possible because if your acting then your already being someone else rather than yourself, because you wont have to act in order to be yourself.

Trying to act like yourself, well... isn't acting like yourself, it's like trying to do nothing, because something, if not everything ends up ruining all your fun. Being yourself is like walking, you don't need to think about it.

Well apparently it is possible. You probably just overthink how to act around girls. You get nervous that you try to crack more jokes and be more enthusiastic that you actually become cheesy. Just go with the flow whenever!

The girls that say they want guys to act like themselves are just lying, mostly to themselves. A girl wants a guy who will act exactly how she would want him to react at all times.

You know how to keep yourself from trying to be someone else.
It`s simple: Don`t do ANYTHING you normally wouldn`t do. That`s pretty much it buddy. Good Luck!

You can only be yourself- but don't be so absorbed with yourself that you ignore the other person.
