Make sure it's fleas and not ear mites. Google search dog ear mites and find a picture so you can be sure. Either way, a guaranteed way to get rid of them, whether mites or fleas, is Frontline Plus. It costs around $50 for 3 doses but it works amazingly well (get it at a pet store or veterinary office). With the Frontline Plus, not regular Frontline, you won't even have to touch the ears. You apply the Frontline Plus to an area of skin on the back of the neck and within about 24 hours the fleas and/or mites will all start to die no matter where they are on the dogs body. It's an awesome product! Some of the other flea meds like Advantage might work on mites too but you'd have to check the packaging first. If the packaging doesn't say it kills mites and chewing lice then it won't work if your dog has ear mites rather than fleas.

Make sure to watch out for ear infections on your pup after you've treated the fleas/mites. If the dog has fleas or mites in his ears, an infection could easily flare up that would require antibiotics to cure. Check the ears daily for several days and watch for signs of your dog acting out of character.

Are you sure they're fleas? Insects in ears are more usually mites.

Please go to your vet to get some flea and mite treatment. You don't need to go near your dog's ear, and in fact it's pointless to remove either fleas or mites manually from an ear, they'll only come back. You should be treating your dog regularly for fleas anyway, like anything they are much easier to prevent than to treat.

Use Revolution, it's a spot-on that you apply to the skin on the back of your dog's neck that treats fleas, ear mites and tapeworms. Please don't use any of the useless and potentially dangerous stuff from stores.

my best advice is to get some Advantage ( or Frontline or something along those lines) these types of products do not need to be directly applied to the fleas only to the dog & then the product absorbs into your dogs skin & on its hair & it not only kills the fleas but makes them sterile & unable to make more fleas, most of these products also kills flea eggs up to a certain amount of time, I would ask you vet which product they would reccomend. Which ever you choose it will still take a couple days but in no time your pooch will be flea free!!! BEST OF LUCK!

Oh, sad. Just get some flea medications and put a couple drops on its back, and give him a flea bath too to make sure.

treat him for fleas with a product like FRONTLINE - it will kill all fleas, mites and their eggs as well as ticks.

you should be doing this every month of his life already.
