Here is the take I have on Florida bass. This strain of bass has a much higher metabolic rate than the Northern largemouth species of bass, therefore they fight harder, feed more aggressively and have a much shorter life span in which to grow to full maturity. The average life span of a Florida strain bass is 14 years while a Northern strain bass has been known to live up to 25 years in cold water climates. Another possible factor (this is partially opinion) is that the Florida bass often produce over 100,000 eggs requiring extra fat and larger body cavity than a Northern strain bass which may produce on average about half as many (between 40-50,000).
Like most Floridians these bass live fast, eat well have lots of sex and die young in order to leave a pretty carcass.
God only knows how far off my opinion is from what an expert like Bill Dance would have to say.

OK Brandon...there's my $0.02 worth.

the poster ravin didnt read your question, you said it doesnt have to be in florida, anywhere in U.S.
the answer: I believe bass are not such picky eaters, they will eat worms, bugs, flies, mealies, they love shiners and minnows, heck they might even eat a snickers bar. I think because they like so many types of foods is the reason they get so big. a trout is more picky.
fish the florida panhandle sometime man. best of luck

Cuz of the fallout from NASA?

I would think longer growing season... warmer water temps for a longer amount of time throughout the year.

But that's just me guessing.

Edited....

Ok, cuz they're the best largemouth bass in the whole g.d. world? Is that it? do I win a prize? They're bigger because that's the way it is, and if you don't like it, well, that's too bad, cuz that's the way it is, and you can't change the way it is....

Ok, I'll stop now.
