Hello,
I am very good with Dream Interpretation because I used to have the "Nostradamus Dream Interpretation Book"-and I found the book to be 100% accurate. Nostradamus was the man who predicted World War 1 & 2--and he predicted JFK being killed. In the 1500's Nostradamus wrote down a list of dream interpretations, and the actual list was located in an attic in Germany a few years ago by a woman whose family had the list for many years.
I am here to tell you that I am 99 percent certain that there is a Female in your life who is envious, jealous, and decieving you. According to Nostradmus--any dream of a snake represents a female enemy--and jealous, manipluative woman--OR, a person (male) who is deceving you. There is most likely some female in your life who you think is your friend---but she hates you and wants very badly to destroy you. This might be a co-worker, close friend, or maybe someone you've known for a long time. I am almost certain of this. The fact that the snake---in your dream--is ready to strike you--this shows that this person in your life is filled with rage at you, and is ready to harm you in any way she can....It is most likey a female, but it may be a male also.
There is someone in your life who is Exremely Dangrous for you. You have to figure out who this is--and CUT OFF the relationship. You are in Danger, but you have the power to save yourself.
The other answers are completely wrong. You are NOT being protected in any way. Snakes are a powerful sign of dangerous people in your life. The Nostradamous Drream Book was is completely accurate.

Dream symbol interpretation may require input from many sources, not just a dream dictionary. Thus I searched for something unique about black rattlesnake to understand your dream.
Black rattlesnake differs from other rattlers:
it is smaller, it prefers to den alone or in small numbers not in large dens, it is rarely seen because it hides=it is secretive, it achieves the jet black color only at maturity, but the most amazing is its ability to change colors!
Please meditate or day dream on the groundless fears and you'll discover the beauty of YOUR INNER TREASURE(golden eyes)--the ability to heal and to make changes (snake), waiting for you to conquer your black fears.
Good luck and thank you for sharing your dreams.

My family has always looked at the symbol of a snake in a dream to be the representation of new unexpected life that may be on the way... If bitten by a snake in a dream, expect to hear news of a pregnancy soon... normally from the person who the snake bit (or their partner if it's a guy that the snake bit). Since in your dream the snake hasn't bitten anyone yet, you can take my family's interpretation of snakes in a dream and assess the situation in the dream a little bit more indepth and see how this interpretation fits into your current social life.
Best Wishes,
-Yiu

Take all answers, including mine, with a grain of salt. The real meaning probably depends on your own life experiences.
You did not mention hearing the rattle. Real rattlesnakes usually give warning and are quite loud. Of course, if you aren't familiar with their habits, you might not know that. So, the sound would not be important in your dream as it would be if I had the same dream.

this is pretty simple: look at it this way.
the fact that you're feeling scared or a feeling of fear means that you feel like something bad is going to happen, yet you don't know what it is. the black rattle snake with golden eyes can be symbolized as a guardian. Because the fact that the snake is staring at something behind you and you can't see it, it has a high chance of being the fact that someone close to you will hurt you in a way soon. it's warning you with its striking pose as if to say 'keep an eye out!' or 'watch out!' or 'be careful!'

In asia, a rattle snake may represent bad spirits and negative energy. Maybe you invite those ghosts to your house for a spaghetti dinner huh

open your eyes. see what it is scaring away, it isnt the snake you should be wondering about, but the thing you are afraid of. perhaps it is the unknown. is something you know of coming up soon in your life? do you have a bad influence on you? try asking yourself these questions, using not logic, but the instant answer that comes first.

Actually, the jet black rattlesnake you saw represents a spirit or demonic spirit which is working deception in your life. It is giving you the false impression that it is there to protect you. When actually, it is there to attack anyone who tries to bring the truth to you. That's why you feel fear when you have this dream, because demons inspire fear when they come into the presence of people. I would find a pastor who is anointed of God who can pray this spirit out of your life.

After I left my abusive ex, I started having dreams of my ex kidnapping me and locking me in a bathroom full of snakes. I was tied to a chair and my mouth was bound. Every time I tried to scream or free myself the snakes would strike. I discussed these dreams with my counselor. She told me that the dreams were connected to when my ex brutally raped me. Snakes in a dream are supposed to be representation of sex or a sexual act.

Are you frightened to face something you have been ignoring?
Rattle snakes aren't black, of course, so maybe the color means something to you. Sounds like the snake is acting like a guard dog. Pretty weird dream.
Good luck with finding the answer.
