There would never have been a book with 613 mostly useless rules. Women are more to the point. probably 4 or 5 commandments would have been enough, and they probably couldn't have been explained in many, many different ways.

But there is hope. Maybe not for the churches, but at least for politics. Germany has a female president now, France almost had one, maybe the USA will have one next year. I would like to see the women rule the planet for a while. Hell, we men have screwed it up for far too long anyway.

It would be a sad testament that 50% of the church just gave up on their leadership role.

What would in effect change? A horrible plumit in preaching. Imagine what would happen to hockey if all the white guys stopped playing? That is not to say women are not good speakers, but you couldnt hope to replace millions of skilled preachers overnite. Becoming a minister also isnt just speaking, its the whole job and a way of life. Its something you have to train for, be ready for, adapt to, and intern for. Its not just something you decide that youre going to do and start putting in applications the next day.

But I dont believe based on anything Ive read in Scripture to lead me to believe that women are called to lead the church anymore than men are called to be pregnant. If women truly inspire to be leaders, they can do so in many other ways and areas to serve in the kingdom and be fruitful for God.

Unfortunately Paul considered women no better than domestic pets or necessary objects. So I don't think women ever had a chance...

There's the old joke: Three wise women would have asked directions, arrived on time, brought thoughtful gifts, and helped clean up the stable.
