Love, beauty and freedom.

The anger, arrogance, and snarky comments are a phase we all go through when we take up atheism. It's a phase.

Logic and reason can only take us so far too. It's not that logic and reason aren't great tools, but they can't compete with the theist worldview.

Even though God may not exist, religions like Christianity have been around for a long time, so obviously to a certain extent, religion works. We need to look at religion from the point of view of natural selection and understand why it works and come up with something that works better.

Replacing the "God meme" with the "natural selection meme" is not enough. Quite a few memes are going to have to be replaced for a new enlightenment.

We might start with the "God meme" but we really have to understand what it is. To see what I mean check out the best answer to this question:

Another part of the puzzle might be to understand the origins of religion. Lets use our rational, critical thinking skills to learn something about the origins of religion.

Can it really be a coincidence that there was a religious revolution going on in the same area at the same time as the Agricultural Revolution was going on in the Fertile Crescent? What's the connection?

Whether this is what really did happen, I have no idea, but it is easily the most convincing description I've ever heard.

At the end of the day, our message to theists has to be a positive one. "You're stupid for believing in God" just isn't going to cut it, and rightly so. There is so much beauty and wonder in an atheist worldview that it makes theism look dull in comparison.

Little publicity stunts like the Blasphemy Challenge are absolutely horrible for our purposes. Yes, the shock value garners attention, but the wrong kind of attention. Check out my take on the Blasphemy Challenge here:

With "The God Delusion", the Blasphemy Challenge, and this weeks Nightline debate, it's obvious that we atheists are mobilizing. It's about time too. But we must be very sure we are using the best weapons we have available to us.

If anyone has any ideas of things we can do, get in touch with me here or on YouTube. Lets do it, and lets do it right.

If you are an atheist, please, please check out the links I have offered here. (I have repeated them in my source links) Do you really want the Rapid Response Squad representing us?

If by "them" you mean the believers, I'm sure you've noticed that they won't listen to us precisely because we're unbelievers and nothing we say has any credibility with them.

And in any case, the alarm has already been raised. If 9-11 didn't wake them to the evils of faith, then nothing will.

Despite their numbers, I agree with Richard Dawkins that the believers aren't the ones we need to go after, but rather the doubters and the young people who haven't accumulated a lifetime of religious habits. Those are the people who check the "none" box beside Religion on all the surveys and census forms, and they're the ones who can be persuaded to really think about this without simply parroting dogma handed down from their great-great-grandparents.

“if we don't do something in 25 years the effects could be unstoppable.” This alarmism is based on spurious computer models that are based on many assumptions. It only takes a couple of incorrect variables in a program to skew the outcome, but there are many unknowns that are just guesses. “America is the leader of the world now. we now must use the great honor with great responsibility. because of our wealth, knowledge, location and human resource of and from the world we hold the responsible of world.” Don’t worry, if Obama and his cronies have their way, America’s economy will soon self-destruct, leaving us little more than a third world country; emaciated, and impotent. “global warming is real. and is the number 1 threat to the end of man” Hardly. Global warming is waaaay down the list of things that could bring about the demise of mankind. Just keepin’ it real ...

I honestly don't know.

Sometimes I have hope, but usually just for a short time. I saw the Kirk Cameron fiasco yesterday. I honestly thought that his amazingly dumb logic would at least make a few people think.

I open Y!A, and the first question I see is somebody praising Kirk Cameron for the brilliant points he made. I honestly fail to understand that. I don't speak their language.

When we legalized prostitution, the number of people who visited prostitutes decreased. When we legalized drugs, a lot less people started to use drugs. Probably because it was all of a sudden somewhat geeky to use drugs, since it's legal. Legal is boring when you're trying to do something popular and exciting.

Maybe the key lies somewhere in that. We should make atheism hip, cool and above all illegal.

But this is just me trying to provide an answer. Honestly, i have no clue. And it's frustrating as hell.

Not without legal attacks on their false prophets. Madison was right. The Churches should be taxed like any other business. They certainly should not be funded out of public money like recent governments have been doing.

What influence in fact have ecclesiastical establishments had on Civil Society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the Civil authority; in many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny: in no instance have they been seen the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty, may have found an established Clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just Government instituted to secure & perpetuate it needs them not.
