I booked an itinerary for my parents using my credit card on lufthansa website. its my first time doing so. i realised a caption saying that the credit card holder must be one of the travelling pax. but i went ahead to book the tkts anyway (after calling Lufthansa's reservatns office and their representative advised me that i am able to do so). However, im still worried that my parents will be denied boarding since im not one of the travellers. Also, is the receipt considered the E-tkt? Does it mean that they will just need to show the receipt at the check-in counter and they will be issued the boarding pass?

Reciept is an affirmation of a transaction done online with a corresponding amount charged and the credit card where it was charged. The difference of that from an etkt is that the etkt contains the name of the passenger with the airline confirmation code and the electronic ticket number which the airlines require upon check-in. You should be getting that in your email but if you don't have one call them again and see if the reservation is ticketed.

The e-ticket is usually not the receipt, it's sent a little while later after the airline gets their money (anywhere from a few minutes to a few days). Your parents should take the e-ticket with them, however I doubt they will need it. The airline can check them in and issue the boarding pass using their ID's instead of the e-ticket. The e-ticket is really only used if the reservation is lost or the flight is canceled.

A ticket is good for passage. a receipt is not. it is a record.
