Hi. Go on www.motowngirl.com and www.growafrohairlong.com for info on how to grow hair, how to shampoo it, how to comb it, and lots more. I have used the techniques and have had great experience with the techniques used. You should only cut the split ends like every 2 to 3 months. When I cut my split ends, I do twists all over my head and then snip just a little bit. You can also find some split ends on the twist itself and snip each strand. This is what I do. I dont need to have my hair in a blunt cut. If you do need a blunt cut, go to a professional.

You should also take a multivitamin, and a vitamin like biotin that you could get at GNC or the vitamin shoppe. Biotin is good for the hair. Drinking lots of water is good, eating a healthier diet that consists of more fruits and vegetables is also beneficial. Deep condition your hair weekly also. It will help with strength.

Also using good products is key. Only comb your hair with a wide tooth comb. www.growafrohairlong.com has a good section on combing "nappy" hair. I dont think its nappy, though. I like to say that its thick hair. You should use products with less chems in it. I have found that once I've changed to using less chem products, my hair has responded better. Some of these have less harsh chems or no chems at all. The less chems, the higher the price. But you are paying for quality. Here are some websites to look at:

www.drugstore.com - look for natural products, then haircare

www.curls.biz - I use them, especially for their curls milkshake! If you do decide to try it, say I referred you and put my email in the comments! (cguerra100@yahoo.com). If you refer someone, you get points for future discounts. But besides that, its great for moisture and detangling!

www.honeyfig.com
www.longlovelylocks.com
www.sistasplace.com
www.naani.com
www.janecartersolution.com
www.sizta2sizta.com

www.nasabb.com - they have 100% unrefined shea butter that I use for moisture and it works, especially when you mix it with oil. They have a free sample pack for only 4.00 shipping, but I just bought it on faith and it was the best thing I did. They are having a sale I think - 20% off the shea butter jars. I have to buy more!!!!!!!!!

Oils will be good for the hair too. Use something that is 100%. Wild growth hair oil works, and Africas best herbal oil works too. Theyre not that expensive, and they do the job. Hope this helps you greatly. God bless.

Oh, and one more thing: DONT constantly use hot curlers and blow dryers. You will cause damage to your hair if used alot like I had done to mine before I learned my lesson. DONT PERM YOUR HAIR EITHER! You will be sorry. You can manage your hair with the knowledge Ive given you.

always trim off the split ends or you will just need to end up getting more cut off in the end. keep it healthy looking by doing that. also use a deep conditioner once a week, and non-harsh shampoo's..try sulfate free formulas, which are much less harsh on hair, or try to find kinds that sulfate isn't on the top of the ingrediants. A/G is a really good brand, so good for your hair and their shampoo also doesnt have alcohol in it. if you take care of your hair, you wont have to cut off as much dead hair, therefor it will grow faster. try not to use heated appliances every day!! this is important. try doing your hair and leaving it for a couple days. don't wash it every day either.
good luck

my partner has nappy hair, i have white girl curly beach hair... this is how we grow our curls healthily:

get a LITTLE BIT of hair chopped off once a month, im talking, no more than a centimeter off the ends, u can do it yourself really.

use no shampoo, instead, condition and massage scalp only, and when u feel u need shampoo, get the juice of one whole lemon, and mix that with ur regular ammount of conditioner, that cleans far better than any shampoo and doesnt ruin ur hair like shampoo does.

use gel in ur hair with no colour and no alcohol. ingredients should have PVP and PVP/VA in it. try not to use any other product. stick to 100% natural stuff if u want.

we use 100% coconut conditioner which we get from priceline. u can also use stuff with shea butter and jojoba oil, we found conditioner with that in a natural health store.

the trick is, regular tiny trims, to keep the growth flow, and MOISTURISE MOISTURISE MOISTURISE!

avoid silicone based conditioners, and get rid of ur hair dryer or straightners if u try to use em. dont. if u must blow dry shove a diffuser on the end.

A HAIRCUT IS AN EXCELLENT WAY TO GET YOUR HAIR TO GROW ALSO KEEPING YOUR HAIR RELAXED WITHIN 4 AND 5 WEEKS KEEPS YOU SAFE. A WRAP WITH NO HEAT IS ALSO PREFERRED OR ROLLERSET. IF YOU ARE WEARING IT NATURAL THE SAME APPLY KEEP IT MOISTURIZED WITH A GOOD HAIRDRESS AND KEEP THOSE ENDS TRIMMED.(VERY IMPORTANT) ALSO YOU CAN ADD A HAIR SKIN AND NAIL VITAMIN TO YOUR DIET.
