I think you should put a heating pad on your neck. If you don't have one fill a long sock with rice and tie a knot at the end. Place it in the microwave for a few minutes till it gets warm. Place the sock on you neck and relax.

Ask someone to give you a deep shoulder and neck massage. The put heat on it but don't leave it on overnight. The heating pad should be on LOW and leave on no longer than 20 minutes at a time or you could get a deep burn. If you have some type of vibrating electric massager, use this.
Since your neck is numb, you could have pinched a nerve. A good chiropractor can fix this.

How about a very warm bath with some epsom salts, sometimes thats it helps when a person has been very athletic or just feeling stiff and achey. Wrap up in something warm, sweats a scarf around the neck and socks, getting warm and staying warm for a little while will help on occasion.

I have had this happen to me before when I have pulled muscles in my neck area. I have applied heat to the area. And yes, also tried to stretch it just a little bit.
If this pain gets more severe even in spite of trying the heat then please go to the ER or a walk-in clinic (some are open on weekends) to have this situation evaluated.

It's muscle pain. Put heat on it. Try using a heating pad, or a beanbag-like thing you put in the microwave. If you don't have those, try a warm shower. Good Luck

Good idea. Use hot. And you can take three Motrin (short term) with no problem. 600 mg is how much the doctor would subscribe.

Move it quick. I know. I know. It hurts but work thru the pain. Each time you move it thru the spot the hurts it will get better. In just a few moments, it will improve. Good luck.

the guy who told you to move it even tho it hurts was right. In a hot shower or bath, make yourself move it beyond where it hurts, keep doing it, make it hurt. Then it'll work out fine. If you have someone to rub it, great---they should rub it and pound on it gently and make it hurt. Sorry.
