A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

And neither do JWs. Have you ever been held against your will and forced to listen?. Have they gotten laws passed to require you to follow their version of beliefs?
They don't seek converts, they seek people whose heart is seeing the terrible things going on in the world and realize that humans are not capable of ruling themselves. They are seeking a change that Christendom is not giving them because they are just more of humans trying to take advantage of other humans for their own personal benefit and gain.
You don't see that in the JWs. They have no lifetime leaders, no one gets paid, and anyone becoming a witness today, regardless of their profession, can end up as an elder, overseer, circuit or district servant, or on the governing board.
People's attitudes toward the witnesses do change with time. That is what happened with my stepfather who would burn my mother's study books. One day he looked at one, and that was 45 years ago.
The time will come when you will seek them out. Every JW knows that. The difference is will it than be too late.

They are just being zealous for their cause and even if some of the beliefs are flawed, I commend their dedication and work. We should all be so hard-working and zealous for what we believe. If you think you have the truth, keep silent, and do nothing, what does that say about your character? How can people do any less then follow the convictions of their own beliefs?
If you dont like their message, just tell them you are well aware of it and the consequences for rejecting it and reject it nonetheless.
But I would urge you to read the Gospel and decide who Jesus was and what HE wants you to do with your life! Without God, life is a meaningless pursuit of self-interest that is doomed to fail and cease.

Sad people do sad things.
Try and understand next time that the Jehovah witnesses believe they are doing something good. You can tell them otherwise, or you can just politely say no.

No one should be forced to believe in God or His Son Jesus Christ. It's a matter of choice. Some people choose to believe, some people don't. It will all come out in the wash.
