What type of OUTPUT does your philips plasma TV have? Also what type of input does your philips DVD have? If you have matching outputs/inputs you should have no problem hooking up the tV to the dvd ( which I am assuming is a home theater unit ). I am not familiar with philips - you may have to go into the menu and select to output audio?

As an example ...

I have my Panasonic Plasma HDTV, hooked up to my Technics (yeah its an older model) A/V receiver via toslink digital audio cable. However the TV also has stereo audio output (white and red RCA jacks) that can be used. I use the toslink audio because it outputs 5.1 dobly digital surround sound.

You need to use the sound cables, NOT the video cables!

check the wires... make sure they are all plugged in right...
make sure there arent any special settings you have to have them on.... read the manuals.. they are there to help!
