I have XP Media Center 2005, and i'd like to buy the Vista Home Premium UPGRADE. There are 2 questions:

1) If i reformat my hard drive on my XP computer, can i boot from the vista disc in order to install it? My guess is that i cant because it's just an upgrade from XP, but i'm not sure.

2) If i plan to reformat the hard drive with vista on it in the future, can i use the same vista disc to reinstall, or will its copy protection limit me to do so?

Thanks

The upgrade requires that you either have Windows XP installed or have the Windows XP installation CD. When you are installing Windows Vista onto a system without XP installed, you can insert the XP CD when the Vista installation program says that it can't find XP and that will satisfy it. I haven't done this with Vista but all prior Windows installations worked this way.

1) you can do it. there is a bug in the vista upgrade disc.
the first time you put in the disc when it is booting, install without the activation code. the installation will be a trial. within the 30 days, put in the disc IN vista and install this time with the activation code.

2)yes. you can use it as a recovery cd.
