The Museum of Natural History is worth the visit. I haven't been there since I was about 13 but it's a great museum. The 'suggested' admission price is $14 for adults, $8 for kids and $10.50 for seniors and students. ('suggested' can be understood as $1, if you want)

The zoo, honestly, isn't that great. I went last year and it was small, a bit disappointing and a little dirty. It was very crowded with LOTS of children. There are 2 polar bears who look very depressed. It's $8 for adults, less than half that for kids. It's really more of a place for children (I felt) and not like the Bronz Zoo which is amazing. When I was there, the place was packed with Hassidc Jewish people and all their kids - nothing wrong with Hassids but they've all got loads of children. Not a place I think I'd visit again but there is a small children's section with a petting zoo. I was not exactly impressed with it and left feeling a little disappointed and slightly depressed.

Central park zoo is tiny compared to the Bronx Zoo.

Its really nice for kids....and seems oriented for that age group.

Museum of Natural History is a must if you have never been there before. I am affiliated with this museum and know it very well. Check the website below...
The just re-opened the hall of Human Origins, and the Gold and Butterfly Conservatory are the current temporary exhibits in display.

The entrance to the museum is : Suggested Price so you can pay whatever you want....

You will need to pay for the special exhibits, Space Show (in the planetarium) and the Imax movie if you choose to.
But the rest of the museum falls under the suggested price.

Its probably one of the highest regarded museums in the world.

I haven't been to the Zoo, but I hear that it is very nice although small.

However only the Smithsonian in DC is better than the NY Museum of Natural History. I cannot recommend it more, you will be very happy. Whatever you do, don't miss the dinosaur exhibit. It just might be the finest in the world.

The zoo is great. Its small but amazing to be in the middle of the concrete jungle, and as you walk around the zoo you don't hear the city rushing by.
Haven't been to the museum in years but what I remember it was very good.
Both are very cheap. especially on Wednesdays they're free. but don't go than every school and camp are there.

They're both worth it I think. The Museum of Natural History is easy to get to as well, its at 81st Street on the B or C train.

i agree with al, skip the central park zoo and go to the bronx zoo. i mean, central park zoo is ok if you really don't have several hrs to kill but want something to do....but it isn't great by any means. from most places, like grand central, you can take a direct train to the bronx zoo so it is easy to get to and def worth the visit.

Both excellent. I think a donation at leaving is better. Entering you don't know what you're getting. After being there ... ...
