The hamster most likely has wet-tail, which is very contagious and unfortunately is a product of stress from crowded conditions or bad animal husbandry. It is recommended, since the hamster is sneezing as well, that the pet is returned to the pet store and ask for a refund. Before placing another hamster in the same cage, everything has to be disinfected. It is very difficult to save animals with this disease. They become easily dehydrated from not wanting to drink. Since yours is sneezing too, this indicates other infection as well.

You need to get this hamster to a vet asap.
'Wet tail' is just another name for diarrhoea of bacterial origin. Rodents cannot survive diarrhoea for long because it dehydrates them very quickly, and they cannot handle this. In extreme cases it can be fatal within 24 hours of signs first appearing. Antibiotics and rehydration fluid are needed to give the animal a chance.
Your hamster may also have respiratory problems if he is sneezing. You sound like you really want this hamster to be OK - so you MUST take him to a vet, they're the only ones that can help you. Go tomorrow, latest!

The only possible answer is get him to the vets and quick. He could well have a disease called wet tail, which affects the rear end and left untreated can results in your new little friend dying. Its a common disease in hamsters, but because they are such fragile little things they can die quite quickly from the smallest of things. I hope once you have seeked a proffesional opinion he will make a full recovery x

That's my brothers name too. :P Heprobably has a cold. Put some hamster vitaman c tablets in his water bottle and make sure his cage isn't near a draft or a window when it's cold outside. For the diarreah I would not give him any treats till it goes away. And make sure his cage is clean. Thats about all you can do he should be fine. :P Hope Anthony gets better.

The hamster needs to be taken to the vet. Over the counter treatments for Wet Tail don't always work plus it may not be wet tail. Mine had an intestinal infection that I thought was wet tail, he needed antibiotics. Also the sneezing is from using wood shavings for the litter. I don't know why pet stores insist on keeping these small animals in wood litters and causing them to get allergies and respiratory infections. I got 5 rats from out of state that the people housed them in pine. Pine and cedar when mixed with their urine causes toxic fumes to occur causing respiratory infections. One of the rats is still battling a respiratory problem plus allergies from the pine. We've had them in paper product litter since they were rescued. I transferred money to have cages, litter, and other needed items for transport to my mother who picked them up for me. They came from 420 miles to my home, one female was adopted even before they got here rat unseen. Our first 2 rats came from a pet store because there was no one to buy one from or any needing a home in the paper on in shelters and our female was allergic to the wood shavings. She is much better now between paper litter and nose drops with antibiotics.

Hamster diarreah is called wet tail and it can kill the animals in as little as a week(signs show after a few days, so it seems like less to you). Sorry but your hammy will probably die because they just get too dehydrated and their little bodies cant take it. Just try and make the end of his life comfortable for him and I hope you misdiagnosed and he doesnt have wet tail... sorry for your baby.

well this could be because your feeding him to much fruits and veggies, if you are then only feed him dry food. its best to give your hamster fruits and veggies as a treat. if this isnt the reason than take him to the vet and good luck.

there's stuff called wet tail. you drop some in it's water. if you bought it less than 30 days ago take it to the pet store and make them give you the medicine for free.
