About a year ago, I accidentally sprayed perfume in my nose, one full puff went into nose and I immediately felt pain and burning sensation back of my head. Ever since I started having headaches and it turned into CDH. Had three CAT scans and MRI with MRA but those came unremarkable. Tried all types of Migraine medicines and for last six months I am on Depakote 1000 mg plus Toporal 100mg. Headache is moderate but still becomes severe at times. Anyone knows any remedy?, Will appreciate the answers. Thanks.

The perfume incident happend in March'2006. Actually the headache pickedup badly in april'2006. After going through couple of CAT scans and MRI (with MRA) of brain the nuerologist put me Levaquin,Inderal,Indocin,Elavil,Topamaxand Depakote one after another along with Triptans. Finally Depakote with Toporal started working but not that great though. Meanwhile in Dec'2006 I also saw a ENT specialist, he ordered a CAT scan of upper extremity (with neck and nose) found nothing remarkable. This headache has really changed my life. I am able to function but no relief from headache though. The severity of pain ranges from 4-7 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest.

I can suggest several things that may help. But you should also check any meds you are taking for side effects.
first a lot of people using excedrine migraine didn't know that it is loaded with caffine. I suggest for them to try tylenol sinius. worked great.
Second. for headaches we have found a lot are because of lack of magnizuim. you need to make sure it is aspertate I believe that is the absorbable kind. I can tell you right now that walmart, rite aid, walgreens, shaws, hannoford... do not carry it. the only place I could find it was gnc. A great test to see if this is a probelms is a hair folical test. these test are much more advaced and conclusive then blood test. 65.00 for the test. If you can get it read by your doctor would probably cover you doctor under insurance. my cousin reads them for like 200.00 That is way to much money. The test price is fair though.
I don't reallly thing the hair spray incident has caused this problem. it may have trigged it or trigged something that was already begining. But your body has a way of fighting toxins that don't belong in your body.
Hope something here helps you.

I don't know if you've seen a doctor about this, but pain is the bodies way of saying, "Hey. Something's wrong!" It is in no way normal to have headaches with the pain and frequency that you're having them. I get my migraines about once or twice a year, but I get cluster headaches that are brought on by a killer disease called vasculitis, which involves some of the blood vessels in the brain. When I get these cluster headaches, I go in for an intramuscular shot of Toradol which treats the problem. But the vasculitis was thankfully found on Memorial Day after having a headache going into my second day followed by a purple discoloration on the right side of my head. The purple discoloration notwithstanding, had I not gone in for my headache, the vasculitis might not have been diagnosed and I may have been dead from a stroke by now, which is probably how I'll die from the vasculitis. But I'm in remission now all because I went in for a headache and got a proper diagnosis. As far as temporary pain control goes, I would ask for a prescription of Oxyxodone 5 mg. and take them under the tongue. It will go into the brain much faster that way and I take 70 milligrams a day of Percocet/Oxycodone a day. You can also wear a 25 mg. Fentanyl patch as well that might help you with pain control. I wish you the best and I hope you feel better.

It could be that one of the chemicals in the perfume could have done some damage to the inside of your nose. If you haven't already I would recommend consulting an ear, nose, and throat specialist to see what they think could be going on.
