Yes, there is freedom of speech and democracy in the US and Canada.
Complain away, the government won't come to arrest you. That's what freedom of speech means. It doesn't mean that someone won't complain right back at you.

There wouldn't be democracy in the U.S., anyway. We are a republic. We do have freedom of speech, according to our constitution. However, the thought police are there to put you down if you say that which is unpopular.

Well, just think, with Iran & Iraq around we have perfect examples of how dumb and regressive a theocracy is, why separation of church and state is important and how, by killing the ability to innovate, the Arab world has gone from being scientific leaders to being a backwater at war with itself.
