Has anyone done this? I thought I had refill, and pharmacy called dr, but hadn't called it in, so called nurse and still nothing, now have to wait till monday at least.
I had been taking 20mg/day for last 3yrs, 10mg/day for year before that for social anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress syndrome.

I've been experiencing a drunk like feeling, more tired, wild dreams and just irritable..

Any advice, suggestions, or empathy?

Sleep, get lots and lots of sleep and it will be Monday soon and if you're already feeling drunk, a little drunkeness might be in order. It could be fun. Call up some friends and go out to a club or sit in and play drunken games. Just check to make sure that Lexapro doesn't contradict with drinking. That's different than the general 'it's not reccomended that you drink while taking psychiatric medications' that recommendation means it's not dangerous, they just want to discourage it people who are crazy.

I didn't experience this. I quit Prozac 'cold turkey' and nothing interesting happened. Probably because Prozac stays in the body a lot longer than those other meds or because I just didn't care. I needed to be off the meds.

your body and brain are confused about what happened to the lexapro.. I was on Lexapro for a while.. and I remember.. I had to slowly come off of it If I remember correctly.. I would call different pharmacy.. or doctor.. and have your doctor call in for a refill.. I h ave had to try a lot of different local pharmacys because my refil ran out and no place had the medicine.. so I'd say keep trying..

You shouldn't go cold turkey on any anti-depressants.

The half life of Lexapro is 27-32 hours. That means in 27-32 hours the drug level in your body is decreased by half. It usually takes 3.5 half life to have the drug be completely eliminated from your system.

Tell your pharmacist your situation. Ask him to advance you a few pills till your doctor can be contacted.

Call up your doctor's office after hour. Sometimes doctors will leave their emergency number for you to contact them. Also leave a message on their answering machine or answering service asking your doctor to have the prescription phoned into the pharmacy.

You're going through withdrawal, and it is going to be nasty. You should try and get an emergency supply from the pharmacy. Lexapro should never be stopped cold turkey.

I certainly have a lot of Empathy for you....I am sorry this is happening. Please CALL the on call Doctor or ask at the E.R. for a couple of pills to hold you over the weekend.

Lexapro withdrawal symptoms can occur at any dosage. Lexapro withdrawl symptoms can begin within eight hours of a missed dose and can last from one to eight weeks. The particularly nasty Effexor withdrawal symptoms can easily last beyond eight weeks.

That was toooo long but, please read this:

At the pharmacy where I work, we would give you some to hold you over until the Dr calls in your new prescription. Maybe you should check on that, see if thhey will give you enough until monday.
