Disconnect and remove battery
Remove the front radiator fan and shroud.
Remove all accessory belts
Remove upper coolant hose, drain coolant
Remove crank and pullies including the one for water pump
Remove front timing belt cover
Remove timing belt and camshaft pullies
Remove and replace water pump including gasket
Drain and refill coolant system


Should change timing belt if doing this job
Get a Hanes, Chilton or better yet a Factory Service Manual for more (better) detailed instructions and procedures

Get ready to also replace the front engine seals and timing belt. The water pump is located behind the timing belt. Seek professional Nissan Technician for the correct repair procedure.

u are looking at a minimum of 6 hours. if you go to the dealership, they will give u a printout of the steps. even then, u might be scared off as it is pretty involved. for my honda, it is 16 steps to get it off, then 16 more to put it back on. i tried doing it on my nissan stanza a few years back and couldnt get the lower cover off! i just put it back together and said forget about it. i assume it is the 3.0 engine which is the same as my merc. villager. it is pretty intense. good luck.

you take your car to the Nissan dealer or other ASE repair shop and let a professional do it...don't do things you aren't qualified for..
