Don't bother, for the price of doing that you can buy the new GTR that's coming out soon instead of a used car. New one is supposed to be faster anyway

What is it with all the Skyline people? Must be video gamers. Why buy a Japan10 year old performance car with right hand drive that cannot be made to USA emission standards. When you can have 306 horse-power 350Z? New Nissans come with factory warranty and are fun from the factory. Just add sway bars and go drifting. Got lot's of money for tires?

Good luck getting the DMV to register the VIN. The Skyline VIN has dashes in it when the DMV needs a 13 letter/number VIN.

And actually parts for a skyline arent that terrible to come across because many common parts are shared with other sporty nissan models.

Well, for one, if you find a car that is 25 years or older, you won't have a problem getting it into the states, you just need to find an R.I. (registered importer) to do if for you.

As for Skylines, good luck. The NHTSA has a section on importing the Skyline, which can be found here, http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/FAQ%20Site/pages/page10.html#Anchor-I.%20Impor-16426 The only Skyline allowed to be imported legally is the R33 production models from January 1, 1996 to June 30, 1998.

If it isn't one of those years, it won't be legal to import it. Once it's imported, you have to have it registered, which means the car has to go through a lot of modifications, which costs a lot of money. Then, once all that is done, you have to have it inspected. Then, providing it passes emissions, you can register it. But, most places won't go through the process of modifying it to meet U.S. standards, mostly because it costs more to modify it than what the car is worth.

Remember one thing. Lots of people say they can import JDM cars and get them registered. But, they usually only get them State legal and not Federally legal, and that can cause you lots of problems, as the car won't be 100% legal to drive. So, if you got serious coin, and you really want one that bad, be prepared to go through a lot of headaches.

Well first you will have to pay the price of the car. ($2,500-$8,000 depending on the year and condition) Then you will have to pay for the car to be switched to "American Ready" which includes the emissions, and some general stuff under the hood. This usually costs around $3,000-6,000. You will also have to check to see if your state allows you to have the steering wheel on the right side. If not, you will have to have that converted as well. (Don't know the price of that) Then, finally you will have to pay for shippping to the US which can cost around $3,000-$4,000. This can be done because I am looking at doing the same thing right now. I currently own a Skyline (I am living in Japan) and am thinking about taking it back to the states with me.

Whole problem with importing a car from another country is that it may not meet US standards. Of course, some countries exceed US standards, so they wouldn't be a problem. But before you take that step, think about things like maintainance and repairs. Almost every country in the world except the US is on the metric system. That means parts are in metric sizes. The US retains its Imperial system of measures, which means parts are not metric. So -- if you have to get something repaired, it means sending back to wherever you got the car from and getting parts imported.

well my man is getting a skyline motor and putting it in his car cause that is kinda EZ and cheaper to do. but there are alot of web pages that you can go on. and as far as shipping coast it all depends on where you live in the us. Diff. state have diff. amounts of money. but if you have a good car all ready with a good size Engine bay then i would just get a motor and it would be like having a skyline. and then you could trick all them dumb people out there that would want to race you and you would win.
