I have actually sat down a deduced that 93% of what is on television in my area is junk, 5% is simply not interesting to me, and 2% is worthwhile.

That's why I call it "Toiletvision".

BAD: There are a lot more garbage television shows being made now more than ever. The number of good shows being made remains constantly small.
GOOD: However, some of the best TV shows have also come out in the past few years, like Freaks & Geeks, Dead Like Me, Arrested Development, Wonderfalls, etc.
BAD: But if you look closely at the shows I mentioned, you will notice they were all cancelled early. Some in just 1 season.
GOOD: But the creators and writers of those shows have gained more experience and have understood better how the TV industry work, so the near future of television looks bright.
BAD: Unless the television executives with no concept of artistic integrity and asinine perceptions of how the movement of ratings work decide to become stubborn...
GOOD: Then again... aw who cares.

***TV will always be in flux. Television eras can never really be clearly defined in terms of time period.***

I watch only a few programs a week. Colbert, Daily Show, Boston Legal and Gray's Anatomy. Monk and Psych too but they have short seasons.

Most TV sucks but I do like those.

There are some very good shows on tv, mixed in with all the other garbage they have lurking around. It depends on your taste and preferences for tv viewing, but i find something good to watch almost every night of the week. (How I Met Your Mother for a sit com....Without a Trace for drama.)

It sucks. A lot.

The "reality" craze should have ended a long time ago, but the industry hasn't realized it. It's almost completely sucked the life out of the medium.

It's a little bit of both. It depends on the shows.
